A smoke alarm that woke a man up when a fire broke out in a Titchfield house in the early hours of today (January 31) could have saved his life.
The man was asleep on his sofa in the living room of the terraced house in Branewick Close when the alarm woke him up at around 3.45am.
The man is thought to have got out of the house himself and no-one else was in the property.
The blaze started in the living room of the property and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were used to tackle it.
Ten fire fighters attended the scene with crews coming from Fareham and Hightown fire stations.
They were on scene until 4.35am.
